Nectar de Urrao is a Washed communal lot that represents the Valley of Penderisco in Urrao, Antioquia, and its most iconic variety: Chiroso. The lot brings together the work of smallholder producers from across the region, with farms located at elevations between 1,700 and 2,000 m.a.s.l. The majority of contributing farmers grow and contribute Chiroso, a variety known for its complex, and delicious profile. This lot honors the variety that has helped put Urrao on the specialty coffee map!
We have been working in Urrao for years, but finally improved logistics and opened an official buying station here in 2025, with the goal of expanding our network of producers in the region. This lovely Nectar includes lots that ensure all coffees that enter the buying station have a home whereby we can pay a premium price. Creating this communal lot requires careful quality control, it’s not by luck! Each small lot is cupped multiple times to ensure consistency and select coffees will enter this lot, or be micro-lots, etc.
Nectar de Urrao showcases the producers’ expertise, our QC process, and our commitment to fairness and quality. Every cup tells the story of the Valle del Penderisco, where dedication and skill come together and Chiroso shines!
